This is a new course for people looking to start their own alteration and sewing business.  The course includes business planning advice and support.

This course if free if you have less than a level 2 qualification.


This course is suitable for beginners or for those who would like to refresh their sewing skills. You will learn to use a sewing machine to create different seams, darts, and zip insertions. You will learn to identify types of fabrics and their textures and uses. You will work on your own project making anything from a simple bag, apron, skirt cushion cover etc. You must supply your own fabric and pattern if needed. Cutting, marking and some threads.

This course is for the student who has completed a beginners course in upholstery who wishes to develop their skills, practise;  or go into business. You will work on various projects throughout 3?10 week blocks; to fully restore chosen items of furniture fully restoring them using traditional and modern methods. The course fee does not include furniture and upholstery fabrics which must be purchased by the student. This course also offers advice and support for students wishing to start their own business.

This course is for the newcomer to upholstery so no experience required. You will work on various projects in 10 week blocks; for example upholstering an ottoman, upholstering a modern stool/headboard; upholstering a traditional fireside/nursing chair; upholstering an over- stuffed chair. Modern and traditional skills and tools will be utilised to restore your furniture. Course fee do not include furniture and upholstery fabrics, which must be provided by the student. You can join for 10 weeks only, or continue to work over 20 or 30 weeks.

The course will only be confirmed once minimum number of 6 students is achieved. Please contact us if you wish to book a place.
