Courses overview

SPAN provides a wide range of adult learning courses in the community.

We deliver first steps and accredited courses at the Silai Centre and in other community venues in partnership with City of Bristol College, Learning Communities Team, Learning Curve, Bristol University and Hillcroft College.

You can register for any of our courses online or in person at the Silai Centre. Before the course starts you will need to bring proof of ID with you and evidence that you are receiving benefits if you want to apply for a concessionary fee or free course.

Some of our courses, including childcare, basic skills courses and ESOL require you to do an initial assessment. We organise regular assessment days prior to courses starting. Please call our office to book a place.

Course fees will depend on the type of course, exams you take and your personal circumstances. If you are in receipt of income-based benefits and/or have less than a level 2 qualification you may be eligible for a free course.

All support groups are free.

SPAN runs an Ofsted registered high-quality crèche and pre-school at the Silai Centre. If your child is three and does not attend a nursery school elsewhere, or if you are in receipt of income-based benefits you may be eligible for a free childcare place while attending courses.

If you need a childcare place please register early as places go fast. If your child is new to our setting we will also ask you to attend settling in sessions before your course starts so that your child gets used to the new environment.

Please see our courses online for more details for 2015 to 2016
