SPAN yearly annual event took place on 17th February at our headquarters in the Silai Centre in Bristol. Over 80 guests and members enjoyed a key note speech from Bristol West MP Stephen William's, a showcase of SPAN's services and a panel discussion.
Panel members included MP for Bristol East Kerry McCarthy, Cllr Gus Hoyt, SPAN's Policy and Parliamentary Officer Laura Dewar, MP Stephen William's and Autism Independence founder and SPAN member Nura Aabe. SPAN volunteers, students and tutors were also given awards for outstanding achievements and positive impact.
In the afternoon participants were able to attend workshops on a range of issues, including working with fathers, working with parents with literacy and language barriers, domestic abuse and how to communicate with the media. Members were also able to influence priority issues for our policy work in the coming year.

Lucille Smith, winner of outstanding achievement award and newly elected member of SPAN's Board of Trustees said: "Thank you for my achievement award. Now I'm over the surprise I'm very pleased and proud!".
